Author's comment: 

Ecce Homo! This is a painting in which drama is emphasized both by the simplicity of strokes and colours that render Christ more human, and by the impossibility to examine the Face that no painter has ever had the opportunity to see.

Is it, then, the quest for His look (just because it is forbidden to us) to attract even more our attention?
The Author does not show more that it is necessary: even the Cross seems to be there, but you don't see it!
The mystery that surrounds Christ makes much more intense His love for the neighbour: from the abyss in which He has been cast by man, in fact, there He is, with His powerful arms, ready to embrace mankind.
Note, finally, how the dramatic scene is attenuated by the vivid golden nuances of the sky, which foretells the Ascension of Christ into the heavenly glory.
